The Girls Water Polo team defeated the visiting Rancho Cucamonga 16-10 on December 6th. The HW Water Polo team was leading by 4 points with four minutes left in the second quarter when Emiko Edwards ‘29 was subbed in. After being subbed out for another 2 minutes, there was 1 minute left on the game clock when she was put back in.
“I had a lot of fun at the game and learned a lot,” Emiko said.. “I was really excited to take the shot and excited that it went in”. .
With 36 seconds in the 1st half left, Amelia Won ’28 was fouled at the goal line. Edwards then took the shot for the team when the score was 7-2. She scored the five meter shot aiming towards the corner in a great shot. “It felt really good to win that game. It was our first lead game of the season and a really big win,” Emma Gonzalez ‘29.. “It’s a great start for our journey to CIF (California Interscholastic Federation)”.
Edwards’s first point of the season was on that day. The Wolverines are now 3-1 on the season and are looking forward to an excellent last month of the season.
