Harvard Westlake has won 12 Delphic League Championships this year. The championships highlighted the success for the athletic program and the strong performance of the athletes throughout the year.
According to Physical Education Teacher and Sports Coordinator Robert Ruiz, Wolverines won four fall championships, two winter championships, and six spring championships.
“We won 12 championships for the whole year,” Ruiz said. “That is a very large percentage of the sports we competed in.”
The fall championship teams included boys cross country, girls tennis, girls field hockey, and girls golf. During the winter season, both boys soccer A division and girls soccer B. In the spring, boys and girls swimming, boys and girls track and field, boys tennis, and boys volleyball.
Swimmer Lacy Park ’31 said, “Winning the swimming championships this year was one of the most memorable experiences of my first year at HW. By joining the swim team, I was able to build new relationships, improve my swimming skills, and push myself outside of my comfort zone. Throughout the season, balancing practices, schoolwork, and competitions taught me the importance of dedication and time management. Celebrating our championship victory is a memory I will forever cherish.”
The athletic department has finished this year with one of its most successful overall performances in the Delphic League Championships.
