The JV soccer team hosted their second match of the year on December 3rd. The team faced off against The Panorama Pythons and was able to get their first win of the season
After a slow start in which both teams failed to convert on chances to score, Hugo Linn ’29 was able to provide a spark after coming in off the bench and Sage Bonito ’28 was able to net the first goal of the game with a curving shot into the top left corner of the goal.
“It was a true wonder goal the won’t be forgotten any time soon,” Linn said
Just as the Wolverines momentum from their previous goal seemed to fade, Sam Azarbal ’29 was able to score off a corner kick giving Harvard-Westlake (HW) a 2-0 lead at the half.
“This was an immaculate first half from the guys and this 2-0 lead is something to be proud of,” Kasra Maghami ’29, said.“The fight we showed in that half has to keep coming.”
As the second half started, the Wolverines took control immediately with great defensive play from Jules Fischer ’29, Gabe Dewitt ’29, and Owen Kim ’29. The team’s elite defensive play gave opportunities for striker Theo Graines ‘29 to give an amazing assist, and score an superb goal to finish off the match.
