Finals are always a stressful time for students. However, as a way to decompress, the Student Council came up with an idea to implement fun activities at school as part of Summer Week. This year, in the week before students had to take their finals, Slip N’ Slides, as well as therapy dogs came to school. Both of these events made an amazing impact on student morale before the final push of exams.
During the day, students lined up to take turns throwing themselves down the Slip N’ Slide on the field. Students were also able to greet loving therapy dogs from Children’s Hospital, who were gathered under a tent on the grass outside the Seaver building.
Sarah Tooke ’04, Director of Student Affairs, took on the responsibility to be a main planner for the therapy dog showcase as well as the other events that the week had to offer. “We implemented Summer Week into the schedule again as Student Council wanted to finish terms positively and find a solution to having a great end to the year,” Tooke said.
These events in themselves truly brought students calmness and happiness as they were able to take their mind off work and focus on more cheerful things.
“We did a similar thing last year and it is a great mental health event,” Diya Desai ‘28 said. “It’s really important to be able to take the stress off of finals and leave this school on a fun note.”
Overall, Summer Week seemed to be a huge success as it brought together the school community and allowed students a break from their hard studies, acting as a stress-free environment that all could enjoy.
