The MS Black Team played a three-set match against Campbell Hall. The team showed improvement in communication, teamwork, and staying organized during the game.
The Vikings started the match by winning the first set. They used consistent serving and defense to take control early. In the second set, the MS Black Team responded by communicating more and moving better on the court. They supported each other during rallies and were able to win the second set, tying the match at one set each.
“We’ve been focusing on communication and not running into each other,” eighth-grade outside hitter Sam Kleeman ’30 said. “That’s really helped us a lot because earlier in the season that was a setback for us.”
The third set decided the match. Both teams continued competing, but Campbell Hall regained momentum and stayed consistent. The Vikings won the final set 15–9, which gave them the match win.
The MS Black Team showed progress compared to earlier matches in the season. Their communication improved during longer rallies, and players stayed more organized on the court. The team also avoided some of the mistakes they had made before.
“Our communication was much better this game,” Sam said. “We stayed more organized and didn’t run into each other as much.”
Sam also explained how he prepared mentally before and during the match. He said staying calm helped him stay focused.
“I try to stay relaxed and remind myself it’s just a game,” he said. “That helps me not get too nervous.”
Campbell Hall stayed consistent in the final set and took advantage of important points. The MS Black Team continued playing through the end of the match.
One major takeaway from the match was the team’s improvement in teamwork and communication. Players supported each other on offense and defense and showed better awareness on the court.
As the season continues, the MS Black Team will focus on communication, consistency, and mental preparation in upcoming matches.
