The Simon Says Girls club decided to give out special gifts to the deans on November 17th for Thanksgiving. The club members gave out hand-made cards, stating why they were thankful for each dean. The day before, while brainstorming people they were thankful for, multiple ideas came up.
“We had a discussion about Thanksgiving and what it means. From the time you step on campus there are so many people in your life that play a role, but there was one particular group of people that came up a lot during that conversation, the deans” Brenda Simon said. She particularly emphasized the effect deans have on the entire school.
“Believe it, kids are so much more appreciative, aware and vocal than adults,” Simon said.“Adults are more reserved, while kids freely express their opinions. I didn’t even have to put in any input. They came up with the idea themselves”.
Colby Plath, a ninth grade dean, had a lot to say about the effect this action had on him. “I came in and was confused, then I was surprised with the kind gesture,” Ninth Grade Dean Colby Plath said. “It was so unexpected, and a nice surprise on a busy day”.
