Middle Eastern American Culture Club returns to Harvard-Westlake

The Middle Eastern American Culture Club (MEACC) is a student club led by Spectrum Staffer Mia Feizbakhsh ‘22 and Joey Schoenberg ‘22. It was created in the 2017-18 school year by Emma Limor ‘21 and Alon Moradi ‘21. They started this club with the intention of representing everyone from the Middle East and to teach others about the culture.

When Limor and Moradi moved to the Upper School this year, Feizbakhsh and Schoenberg took over as leaders of MEACC. Their goal for this year was to talk about different cultures, encourage people from different ethnicities to join and incorporate food from different cultures.

“We’re kind of just trying to spread awareness and make the club bigger and get more people to learn about Middle Eastern culture. We accept all people [at the club],” Joey Schoenberg ’22 said.

When interviewing new members of MEACC, Alanah Dakar ’22 said, “I felt really accepted. I felt like my heritage was appreciated and was recognized for the struggles it took to get to America.”

MEACC is a club that accepts all cultures and encourages everyone to come on Fridays at break in HC322.
