For their first meeting of December this year, the Christian Club hosted a showing of the 2018 animated movie The Grinch, along with a hot chocolate bar, and popcorn.
Anny Du ’29, one of the leaders of the club, spoke about the planning and thought that went into the event. “We wanted to do something that really brought out the Christmas spirit and made people feel happy and connected. December can feel stressful, so we hoped a Christmas movie day would help everyone relax and enjoy time together.”
Carlos Hernandez ’29, a regular member of the club, compared this event to the regular meetings.
“This event felt different from our usual meetings because there were a lot more people,” Hernandez said. “The atmosphere felt much more community oriented. The hot cocoa setup made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming, and thankfully there were enough drinks and toppings for everyone.”
Du mentioned that the success of the event was rewarding.
“I loved seeing everyone laughing and having fun,” Du said. “The overall the vibe was really positive.”

Hernandez agreed with this, and said. “I think activities like today’s are a great way to bring people in and to share about the good news, which is what I believe Christian club strives to do.”
Commenting on the large attendance and communal response, Olivia Yu ’30 said: “The event was very busy and popular! Everyone loved the Christmas spirit.”
This is just one of the many events Christian Club will be hosting. Du said that in the future, “Members can expect more variety in our meetings. We want to keep doing fun and creative activities while also having meaningful discussions and time to connect.”
