The annual spring choral concert, a long-standing tradition, took place on Thursday, May 22. The performance featured the Tenor and Treble Chorus, Wolverine Singers, Vocal Ensemble, and the school’s most advanced choir, Madrigals. Students from grades seven through nine participated under the direction of Choral Instructor and Performing Arts Teacher Paul Keilbach and accompanist Christopher Wong.
The program included a variety of songs, ranging from classics like “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen and “Dancing Queen” by ABBA to selections performed in different languages, including Korean.
“One of my favorite pieces on the program for this concert is ‘Apple Tree’ by AURORA,” Keilbach said. That song was performed by a combination of advanced choirs, along with several upper school students still active in the choir program.
“The concert is always such a rewarding experience.” Avery Kline ’29, a member of Vocal Ensemble, said. “It gives me and my classmates a real chance to showcase our voices and all the hard work we’ve put in throughout the year.”
This year’s performance featured several soloists, including Remington Kim ’29 and Oliver Beraze ’29, who sang during the Wolverine Singers’ set.
“We spend hours in class, and outside of class, learning music and learning how to sing it together,” Keilbach said. “The concert is a chance for us to showcase all the work we do in class all year.”
Meanwhile, students spent a lot of time in their own preparations.
“I prepared my voice in many different ways leading up to the concert, and especially memorizing all of our songs was a difficult task, “Leica Achache ’28, a member of Madrigals, said
The spring choral concert marked not just the end of a school year, but a celebration of months of effort, collaboration, and musical growth. With performances in multiple languages and genres, the event served as a joyful culmination of the students’ dedication to the choral program.
