The Environmental Club sold over 800 Diddy Riese cookies at their bake sale, on April 25, raising funds for TreePeople – a Los Angeles-based environmental nonprofit focused on climate resilience and forest restoration.
The event was originally planned for Earth Day, April 22, but was moved to April 25 due to technical issues with the pre-order system.
Because the Environmental Club only has three members, each one had to pitch in to make the sale a success.
“We all had to contribute and work together to make it happen,” Beckham Williams ‘28 said. “The purpose of the bake sale is to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment and ensuring that students are aware of the environmental impact of their actions.”
Science Teacher and Club Advisor Daniella Ellingson, helped organize the event
“We fundraise for organizations that are committed to the health, resiliency, and sustainability of animals, our natural habitats, and vibrant ecosystems,” Ellingson said. “It is so important, now more than ever, to support people and organizations that care for all of our futures.”
“We want students to contribute to environmental movements and realize the importance of change,” Williams said.
