The Go Gold Club hosted its third annual donut sale to raise money for the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House, which supports families with children receiving cancer treatment, on March 13.
The Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home”, giving families a comfortable, familiar, and free place to stay in while their child is hospitalized. It is a convenient alternative to staying in a hotel near the hospital and the House offers many support services during the difficult times. Many Ronald McDonald Houses rely on the support of volunteers and community donations to continue its mission.
Go Gold Club centers on raising awareness and supporting kids with cancer, and has a close relationship with the Houses, often sending care packages and volunteer groups. For the donut sale, members spent weeks preparing.
“Our club members worked together behind the scenes to promote the event, take pre-orders, organize the donuts, and help out with the donut distribution,” said Joshua Bie ’28, founder and president of Go Gold Club. “Everyone really stepped up to help, and it was great to see how passionate and committed the team was.”
Donuts sold for $5 each, with flavors such as glazed, vanilla sprinkles, chocolate sprinkles, and Boston creme. Students lined up during break to grab a treat and support the cause.

By the end of the day, the club raised more than $1,500—all of which was donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

“Go Gold Club is all about raising awareness and support for kids with critical illnesses, especially those battling childhood cancer,” said Bie. “The golden ribbon is a symbol of that fight, and we try to carry that message in everything we do.”
Several different events have been planned throughout the year to spread awareness, especially during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The club aims to keep growing and find new ways to support those kids and their families.
