The Election Day Informational Meeting hosted by Director of Student Affairs Sarah Tooke ’04 took place in Bing 123 during break on November 4th. Every year there is an Informational Meeting for student council candidates to learn about the responsibilities of a member of student council, and what is allowed in the election process.
“Recognize that student council is a big commitment and will take up a significant amount of your time” said Tooke.
While speaking she mentioned many of the duties of Student Council Members, while also making sure to inform the candidates of the campaigning protocols.
“ Try to be relatable with the student body in your speech, that’s one of the best things to do.” said student senator Jordan Paya ’29
After the meeting was finished candidates were able to ask current student council members questions about the election process and their experience. Many of the current student council members gave tips to try and help those running.
“I’m running because I think it will be a fun experience for me and I want to help the HW community” said Isaac Wilhelm ’31
“ I want to run to help improve the HW community” said Lincoln Mayhan ’31
When candidates were asked why they were running they gave many different answers but the common idea among all of the candidates was to help Harvard Westlake become better.
