The Jewish club made cards for the elderly to share the common message, “Shana Tova” for Rosh Hashanah, during their meeting on September 15. Rosh Hashanah represents the Jewish New Year and symbolizes the cycle that never stops time. The Jewish club made a unanimous decision to make cards for the elderly on this special occasion.
“Making cards for the people in need gave us the chance to bring the new year not only to us but to them as well” said Jewish club co-leader Ryan Auerbach ’29.
The making of cards has influenced all the Jewish club members in good ways, as they saw that they can make an impact in their community.
“Making Rosh Hashanah cards for the elderly is very important to me because I know it can make their day,” Max Friedman ’29, Jewish club co-leader, said.
During the Jewish club meeting, the 9th grade Jewish Club leaders discussed the meaning of Rosh Hashanah, the significance, and all the celebrations involved with Rosh Hashanah. They served food during the meeting, including apples and honey, which resemble a sweet new year, and round challah, which symbolizes renewal and a cycle.
“Overall, this meeting was a great time for the Jewish community to come together, and all celebrate a happy, sweet new year,” club leader Cooper Eisen ’29 said.
