The Middle School Chamber music and Solo Concert showcased many young musicians and their abilities in the Saperstein Theater. The Chamber music and Solo Concert is a show where members of the Symphony Orchestra form small groups to perform an instrumental piece, and was performed on February 21st.
The students present prepared for this performance since their return from Winter Break, and throughout this process Seventh Grade Dean Emily Reola and Performing Arts Teacher Pedram Pourghazi navigated the challenge of organizing multiple rehearsals by bringing in professional musicians to help the students perfect their pieces. A week of rehearsal was lost due to the Los Angeles wildfires in the community, tightening their rehearsal time even further.
This kind of ensemble provides more opportunities for individual students to receive more attention on their musical skills and creates a more intimate and creative atmosphere that allows for more personal expression and collaboration.
“The students really stepped it up and put together an incredible show,” Reola said.
