Students gathered at the Horn Commons as the Simon Says Girls Club hosted an ice cream fundraiser on Friday, March 6, 2026. The fundraiser raised money to support girls in need around the world, delivering food and hygiene products.. The fundraiser sold ice cream cups with a variety of toppings to choose from.
Simon Says Girls Club aims to help girls around the world access education and hygiene products. In this particular fundraiser, the club focused on raising money to pay for girls education and educational tools, which are then distributed by Girl Up, an organization that helps distribute aid to girls in need around the world.
“The event is really just about being able to give girls the education that they deserve. Some of them don’t have books, pens, and paper,” Attendance and Health Coordinator Brenda Simon-Tillman said. “Even if we only help one child, that’s better than not helping anyone at all.” Members of Simon Says Girls Club manned the ice cream stand during WIN 1, 2, and 3 and took shifts.
“So far, this event has been really fun,” Joseph Holly ’29 said.”I just wish that the people buying the ice cream would think more about the purpose of the ice cream and the people it’s going to help.”
All the people who helped out at the ice cream stand had a blast working with friends and supporting the fundraiser.
”I think that my friends and I had a really good time,” Usha Sarvaiya ’30 said.“We’re all a really good community and we really bonded over this event and cause.”
Simon-Tillman picked out a very specific organization to help distribute the earnings from the fundraiser. Simon Says Girls Club has raised a total of one thousand one hundred and five dollars.
