To kick off 2026, Christian Club partnered with Raising Cane’s, the popular fast-casual establishment known for their chicken tenders and signature sauce, to serve over 200+ meals to the students of the Harvard Westlake Middle School.
On January 16, during all 3 WINs, leaders and members alike came to help serve the plates of food, complete with three chicken tenders, fries, a piece of Texas Toast, and the iconic Cane’s sauce.
Sam Azarbal ’29, a leader of HWCC, spoke about the behind the scenes efforts that were necessary to bring the fundraiser to life.
“It involved coordinating with administration, Raising Cane’s staff, and club members to secure approval, set a date, and promote the event effectively. A lot of work also went into spreading awareness, organizing volunteers, and communicating with the charity.” said Azarbal ’29.
Jordan Paya ’29, another leader, mentioned the significance of the cause.
“Originally, we envisioned donating to an organization that gave holiday gifts to kids who didn’t receive any due to financial issues,” Paya said. “However, given the current events around the world, specifically in Sudan and Nigeria, we realized we wanted to help those being persecuted for their faith.”
The fundraiser raised over $1,785 in profit for the Persecution Project, a Christian organization providing aid to victims of persecution, with a focus on the current pressure and violence against religious victims in Sudan.
With 174 pre-orders with contributions from all grades and teachers alike, as well as many day-of orders, Azarbal thinks the event was a success.

“Everything ran smoothly, and we successfully raised funds for our cause while also bringing students together around a shared mission of religious awareness.”
Coco Kim ’30, another leader of the affinity group, said she was thrilled with the turnout and awareness the event was able to create, and the opportunity the fundraiser gave for future improvement.
“For the future, we now know the importance of spreading awareness about the event, so everybody can get their pre-orders in a more organized and timely manner.”
