The Harvard-Westlake admissions results came out on March 14th, 2025.
The admissions process is a long process that starts in September when applications open and ends when families hear back mid-March. The parts of the process are submitting the initial application and interviewing and visiting the school. There were many opportunities for families to visit and experience Harvard-Westlake, including the Family Visiting Days, Roundtable for People of Color, and information sessions for parents.
“It’s difficult when there are so many more applicants than there are spots,” Assistant Director of Admissions Veronica Zapata said. There are around 80 to 90 spots for incoming 9th graders and 220 to 210 for incoming 7th graders. Spots for grades 8, 10, 11, and 12 are generally only given under special circumstances, such as a family moving from out of state.
“ Everyone here looks for different things. Zapata said. I like applicants who are curious, kind, and not afraid to try new things and fail.” The process is highly collaborative, involving perspectives of admissions officers and staff members who take the time to interview and evaluate students. The committee looks at the whole student, aiming to admit individuals who will thrive in and out of the classroom.
