2019 dodgeball tournament excites fans, makes history

The 2019 Harvard-Westlake Dodgeball tournament is in the books, and it concluded with a wild finish. The narrative of this year was the all-ninth grade team “Three-Peat,” the eventual champion, as Jason “JT” Thompson ’22 had the honor of becoming the first student to win championships in all three years of eligibility.

The final game was between Freddy and Friends and Three-Peat. The series went to three games with Freddy and Friends and Three Peat splitting the first two, and Three Peat pulling away with the win in the final game.

“It was a great experience, and I enjoyed getting to celebrate the win with my teammates,” Alex Mogollon ’22 of Three-Peat said.

When asked about Thompson’s winning three times in a row, Mogollon said “I’m happy for him, it’s an honor to make history at Harvard-Westlake. I know we’ll be forever remembered in the hallowed halls of Hazy.”

Three-Peat has made history and will be forever remembered. This was a historic tournament and one that will go down in the dodgeball history books. We had some great games along with some crazy upsets, but in the end, the favorite Three-Peat pulled through.
