The varsity boys lacrosse team had a dominant 10-2 home win against Brentwood on a sunny Saturday, February 29.
Playing on their home field, the team controlled the pace of the game early and never looked back. The biggest momentum shift came late in the second quarter, when the Wolverines extended their lead to 7-1 heading into halftime.
Goalkeeper AJ Martin ’29 played a crucial role in that momentum swing. Martin recorded 10 saves as a goalkeeper and made several key stops that prevented Brentwood from closing the gap.
“I think the game really shifted at the end of the second quarter,” Martin said. “When we went up 7–1 going into halftime, you could feel the momentum swing. Our defense was communicating well, we were getting stops, and our offense was finishing. Going into the half with that lead gave us a lot of confidence.”
Head Coach, Prince Drew, emphasized that the team’s hard work and perseverance were key to the win.
“This win spoke to the team’s resiliency to never give up”, Drew said. “No matter what the obstacles were, we worked hard and persevered to this point. The boys stepped up and showed up for themselves today. They proved to themselves that hard work pays off.”
Looking ahead, Drew made it clear the team was focused on steady improvement and ready for what comes next.
“In terms of the tone for the rest of the season, we are taking it day by day. One percent better each day”. Drew said.
With disciplined defence, strong communication from the midfield, and great plays, the 10-2 home win over Brentwood set a confident tone moving forward.
