Who is Johnny Appleseed and Why Should We celebrate Him?
Apples

Apples

Johnny Appleseed was born 284 years ago this Tuesday. Johnny Appleseed was born in Massachusetts by the name of John Chapman and he was a missionary and nurseryman on the American frontier.
In 1800 he began to collect appleseeds from Pennsylvania and started moving west. When he reached the Midwest he started setting up apple nurseries and he would go on to sell around 1,000 seeds to help prepare the 19th century settlers and pioneers. He would go on to become a legend through his contributions not just towards the lands of Midwest North America but to botanic history itself. It’s important to remember those who helped make history and furthered their respective causes even now more than 200 years later and to remember the work they put in to make a difference in the world. And that is why we should celebrate Johnny Appleseed.
