Calm Crew Club members make bracelets at break on Thursday, Sept. 14.

On Thursday, Sept. 14 the opener of the Calm Crew Club happened at tables in the shade outside Bing first floor. Calm Crew Club advisers Sidney Kohls, Cindy Bates and Tina Cleveland, and the middle school counseling team created this event. More than 25 students participated.
“I came to the calm crew club because I saw it in the bulletin and wanted to have a relaxing time with my friends,” Charlie Engelberg ’28 said.
This was a very hands-on activity.
“I came to the club because I love making bracelets and it sounded like a fun club. It is a nice way to take a break from school and feel calm,” Charlotte Im ’27 said.

Sophie Ro ’28, Reporter
Sophie Ro ’28 is a first-year Spectrum reporter. Before coming to Harvard-Westlake, Ro became interested in podcasting and eventually created a podcast at Curtis School. She had gained an interest in media at school when she had seen it on the elective sheet. She expressed that she never had a class to showcase her interest and is ecstatic to finally do so through this class. “It’s really cool how you can spread information to a wide audience and make an impact in the world all through media,” Ro said. “I really want to make a difference with my writing.” Ro is interested in learning how to broadcast and write spectrum articles. She aspires to create a podcast at school, and is excited to learn how to do so.
