MS Symphony performs at annual Grandparents’ Day assembly in May 2023.

The middle school symphony will travel to Disneyland and Fullerton in May.

Performing arts teacher Emily Reola said the symphony alternates between larger trips and visits to Disneyland and Fullerton each year.

“One year, we do something four nights away and on the opposite year we do something one or two nights away,” Reola said. “Last year, we did a San Francisco trip so we’re going to do our smaller trip this year. This year, the opposite year, we always do this trip to Disneyland and Fullerton.”

Reola said San Francisco was the ensemble’s destination last year because of COVID-19.

“San Francisco felt like a safe decision because we could drive there,” Reola said. “We weren’t sure if there was going to be a spike in COVID.”

The performing arts department is deciding where the trip will be for the 2024-2025 school year. Reola said the ensemble may go to New Orleans or New York.

“The year we had to cancel for COVID, we were supposed to go to New Orleans,” Reola said. “We might do that trip we didn’t get to do but we were also talking about New York.”
