The girls golf teams set high standards for the season, including improving skills like reading the green and hitting more accurate shots. The varsity squad ended with an overall record of 6-1. For many years, the varsity team had not lost a league game, but that streak was broken this season as they lost to Marlborough on Oct. 2nd with a final score of 206-212. The varsity team did become Mission League champions this season. Even though they broke their streak, they worked hard for the rest of the season and kept on supporting each other for a better outcome.
“We repeated as Mission League champs and that is a tough feat. Daisy Wan ‘20 advanced to CIF shooting even par and our team has a great chance of advancing to CIF,” Program Head, Marge Chamberlain said, before the team competed in the CIF match.
Their final match was on Nov. 2nd at the CIF Individual Championship & SCGA Qualifying Tournament. It was the state qualifier where the top four players went to the state championship. The varsity team did not go to state but placed eighth overall. Josie Baker ‘18 carded a 78, their team’s best score card.
The JV team made many improvements from the start of the season over the course of their three matches.  They did their best and won on Sept. 28 against Simi HS with a final score was 192 – 238.
“Even though the season is coming to an end, I have made so many amazing friends and can’t wait to keep practicing with them on our own time,” Natalie Phillips ‘21 said.
At the end of the season, both teams were unable to reach their goals, but they plan on working hard in the coming months to do their best in the upcoming year.
