Javier’s Mexican Restaurant brings fresh flavors to Century City Mall

The new Javier’s restaurant is an amazing addition to the Century City Mall because of its incredible cuisine and ambiance. The restaurant offers Mexican cuisine with touches of American foods, including salads and steak. First opened in Laguna Beach in 1995, its delectable food, like the chips and salsa appetizer, have brought it great success. Over the years, Javier’s has opened many new restaurants including Newport Beach, Los Cabos, Las Vegas, and now their newest location, in the Westfield Century City Mall.

When you sit down at your table, there is a bowl of warm chips, fresh salsa and guacamole waiting for you. The salsa, with mixed flavors of sweet but spicy at the same time, is one of the highlights of the experience. The guacamole is also served, but instead of a pureed and smooth texture, Javier’s takes a more natural approach that emphasizes the presence of the avocado.

After enjoying the chips, drinks and appetizers are ordered. The most popular appetizer is the ceviche. Served cold, the fresh fish is delivered every day and brought in seasonally, making sure the customers never get a bad bite. The ceviche is rather small, but can still be shared within a small party. This fresh fish appetizer is a great way to start off a delicious meal and dining experience. Traditional Mexican appetizers are also available, including empanadas, taquitos, and queso fundido.

In addition to just Mexican style entrees, salads and steaks are also available. I had the crispy taco dinner, which consisted of two beef tacos, beans and rice. The crispy taco dinner can also come with chicken. Although two tacos may seem small, they are quite filling. The tacos come with a choice of chicken or beef, as well as pico de gallo, lettuce and cheese. The contrast between the hot beef and the cold lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo create wonderful flavors. The beef is on the spicer side, but the sweetness of the tomatoes in the pico de gallo balances it out. Eating this dish is an amazing experience.

After such a filling entree, some customers don’t have enough room for dessert. For those who do, Javier’s offers many types of dessert including Mexican sweet cornbread and more traditional selections such as chocolate cake or ice cream.

My experience at Javier’s was amazing, and although it is on the pricier side, the wonderful food and excellent service make up for it. I rate the Javier’s experience as a 9/10.
