E! Behind the scenes on the E! Red Carpet

At major award shows, the red carpet is one of the most important highlights of the night, where new and old stars walk down the carpet in front of hundreds of flashing lights and show off their look of the night. The most breaking and important news we can receive is from the interviews conducted by dozens of shows being represented on the red carpet, all eager to interview the big faces making their way into the auditorium. The show E! Live From the Red Carpet fully captures the excitement of the night and fills us in on how the stars are feeling and what they are thinking. Giuliana Rancic, the host of the show and arguably the queen of the red carpet, asks the questions the viewers want to know the answers to.

“I really enjoyed watching the Emmys, it was super entertaining. I especially loved watching the red carpet and the coverage on the carpet by E!, mainly when Giuliana Rancic was speaking because she makes everything really easy to listen to and fun,” Jade Zoller ‘22 said.

I had the opportunity to speak with Rancic, who also recently returned to host E! News, the flagship show of the network, and asked her questions about her experience that night at the Emmy Awards.

Q: How is it returning to E! News and jumping right into to a major production like the Emmys?

A: It’s super exciting. I stepped away from hosting E! News three years ago to spend more time with my family in Chicago and also grow my other businesses and now that I am back, it’s like no time has passed. I have so many great relationships I have formed with celebrities over the past 15 years I have been at E!, that it’s always great to catch up with the big stars at the major red carpet events.

Q: What is your favorite part about the night and the red carpet?

A: I love live television because anything can happen at anytime. That seems scary to some people but to me, it’s what makes the job exciting and keeps me on my toes.

Q: Do you ever get nervous before you go live? And what is your routine to help those nerves?

A: Great question. I get nervous for about 10 minutes before we go live, but once that little red light goes on, my nerves turn to excitement and anticipation. In terms of a routine to help with nerves, for me, that best remedy is preparation. The more prepared I am to interview the celebrities expected to attend, the less nervous I am.

Q: Has being a staple on the red carpet been a life-changing experience, for yourself and for your family?
