The Asian American Culture Club recently focused on promoting mental health in the Asian American community. With the period between Thanksgiving and winter break being especially stressful, the club’s goal was to give students a place to relax and connect with others.
“AACC is a space for students to share and explore Asian American identity, issues, cultures, and history,” said Mr. Cha, the club’s advisor. “These past two meetings really show that. Last Tuesday, Dec. 10, we had an Asian American wellness and self-care day with Korean face masks, tea, music, and snacks. The week before, we had a holiday karaoke meeting where students sang both Asian and American songs.”
These events provide students with a much-needed opportunity to unwind and support one another.
“We wanted to create a safe space for people to relax and take a break,” said student leader Juliette Lee. “For me, testing season is super stressful, so it’s nice to know other people feel the same way.”
