Juha Kim ’29, Reporter

Juha Kim ’29 is a multi-talented first-year reporter for The Spectrum. A violist of three years, she leads the Middle School Symphony viola section, enjoying traveling and playing with friends. She has also danced since age eight, using movement and music for self-expression, and is now part of the MS Dance Production, while regularly competing as a soloist. Demonstrating leadership, she leads the student-run HW Voices for Change Club, a platform where student advocates address overlooked situations and propose solutions to controversial issues. She also leads the Asian American Culture Club, fostering a sense of belonging and cultural affirmation for Asian American students.
“I noticed that many people at our school–including myself–really care about major issues in our society, but there wasn’t a space where we could actually talk about them or take action. I wanted to build a community where students could speak up, be heard, and turn their ideas into real impact because I believe every one of us is capable of change,” Kim said.
Having immigrated from South Korea 10 years ago, she has a deep understanding of the complexity of language and is motivated to help make news more authentic and accessible to all. This year, she plans to focus on media to refine her composition techniques and communication skills while also seeking opportunities to network with people from various fields.
