Chef Ludo Lefebvre creates unique atmosphere for french dining in LA

French Chef Ludo Lefebvre is known for his famous restaurant Trois Mec, but his smaller and more casual restaurant Petit Trois is an excellent, high-end French bistro masquerading as a simple lunch spot. Lefebvre’s Hollywood location opened in June 2014, but he has recently opened a larger, reservation-based location in Sherman Oaks. The food is unparalleled and has options for any outgoing group with sophisticated palates. The atmosphere could be easily mistaken for a bistro in the heart of Paris.

If you want to eat more traditional food, the cheese omelet and steak frites are simple but always a strong go-to dish. If you have a more sophisticated palate, the escargot dressed in butter and various sauces with chives is a risk for some, but it will surely not disappoint. The details and toppings on each dish are what set Petit Trois’ cuisine apart from many other french bistro in Los Angeles.

The seating at their Hollywood location is not ideal. The very limited 21 stool seating makes getting seats a struggle. Unless one arrives before the restaurant opens, it is unlikely you will earn more than a stool for that day because of their no-reservation policy. The intimacy of the seating is unlike any other; the food is being cooked right before your eyes, and the dynamic of the chefs is enticing and entertaining. The music choice is French pop, which keeps the conversations alive and moving.

The new Studio City location has a different ambiance. There is a much larger entrance room, so the location fits far more people. There is also an extra room with seating and a full bar. Though this reverses the idea of intimacy with the people making your food, the larger room is worth the sacrifice because of its ample space. This new location also has a new policy implemented that includes reservations. This, in addition to its large space and accessibility, draws more people and attention towards their location in the valley.
