Dear Harvard-Westlake Students,
As the new adviser of Spectrum, it is a privilege to advise such a prestigious, award-winning magazine. However, I hope to make it a rare occasion that you hear from me.
Spectrum staffers pitch all articles, write and edit each article and design every page. I believe that this makes Spectrum a reflection of Harvard-Westlake’s student body. Ultimately, this magazine belongs to you.
In recent months, Spectrum Staffers have added new platforms to engage with you; to round out our online platform, we have created an Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook to highlight the work being done in print and on our website.
To be truly representative of our community, though, we want to add in your voices, through Letters to the editor – which are always welcomed and encouraged – or freelancing an illustration or opinion piece (or just letting us know that we should cover the cool thing you are doing!).
As a sign-off, I invite you to get involved – not only with Spectrum but with the world. The world is begging for your engagement. We hope Spectrum can provide you a mode of doing so with Harvard-Westlake at least – in a way (and medium) that speaks to you.
I wish you all the best in this coming year, and Spectrum looks forward to covering all your triumphs.
Best,
Ms. Suess
