Community service and leadership opportunities have posed a major challenge for many students, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Leaders United for Change offers a unique community service experience, allowing seventh to 12th grade students to mentor younger students who are looking for extra assistance on homework, need help understanding concepts in class, or want to review before tests. Subjects that are taught include English, math, SAT prep, art, debate, journalism and so much more.
Leaders United for Change is the perfect opportunity for any Harvard Westlake (HW) student to get in some extra community service hours, leadership experience and to be able to work with kids and impact the community positively during such a difficult time.
With a lot of schools struggling to be able to help reach students, especially younger students, through Zoom, Leaders United for Change supplies a platform to help teach them and aid them in their journey towards success.
Mentoring sessions occur every Saturday between 5:30 p.m to 7 p.m., and if you are interested in joining and helping mentor these students, please send an email to Jade Harris ‘24 at @[email protected] .
