Latin scholars from both campuses attended and won the Certamen Tournament at Crossroads High School on Feb. 10. The tournament was a quiz-style competition with questions based on Roman mythology, ancient history and civilizations and the Latin language.
Teams were made of four students and each team played three qualifying rounds and a final round. The school entered two teams. The middle school team, composed of Lena Bagley ‘22, Chaerim Kim-Worthington ‘22, Avery Konwiser ‘22 and Simon Lee ‘23, participated in the Novice certamen, while the upper school team had Jaya Ananda ‘20, Taia Cheng ‘19, Eleanor Halloran ‘18 and Calvin Kaleel ‘18 competing in the advanced certamen.
Bagley spoke of her experience at the tournament.
“The whole tournament was really fun but also very stressful, especially during the final round where we only won by 15 points,” Bagley said.
