Aaron Mieszczanski will be the Director of Admission starting July 18 to fill in for current Director of Admission Elizabeth Riordan, who will step down after 26 years.
President and Head of School Rick Commons sent an email to all the faculty, staff, students and parents about Mieszczanski on Jan. 2.
Mieszczanski grew up in New York and graduated from Ethical Culture Fieldston School. He earned his B.A. in history at Williams College and his M.S. Ed. in School Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania. At Thacher School in Ojai, he was Senior Associate Director of Admission and Coordinator of Multicultural Outreach. Since 2013, Mieszczanski has been the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at San Francisco University High School.
According to Commons, Mieszczanski’s colleagues think highly of him.
“His colleagues praise his ability to connect meaningfully with people of all ages and to communicate compellingly to prospective families both the extraordinary excellence of the institution and the transformational quality of the student experience,” Commons said in the email.
Members of the school said they think that he will be a great addition to the community.
“Aaron was visionary in his approach and dedication to diversity and inclusivity. His enthusiasm was infectious…and I see him being a true leader at the school,” Commons’s email quoted a senior faculty member as saying.
Mieszczanski said he is excited to join the school and meet with the faculty, staff and students.
“I’m looking forward to connecting with the various members of the school community that make it such a special place. I’ve met several HW faculty and staff members that are fantastic ambassadors of the school, but I haven’t had the opportunity to meet with a lot of kids yet.[…]While I am of course eager and excited to spend more time with my colleagues, I’m looking forward to connecting with the students that live the experience,” Mieszczanski said in an email.
