Roberto Baltazar, a long time maintenance member on the middle school campus, will retire before winter break.
Baltazar said that over the years, has gotten to know his co-workers. After retirement, Baltazar hopes to be able to spend more time with his family.
“When I go, I have plans to spend more time with my grandkids…. I’m thinking of taking a vacation around the world with my wife, my daughter and my kids,” Baltazar said.
Baltazar said that his years at the school were well spent and that it’s interesting seeing the kids coming and going through the campuses.
Baltazar said that during his time at the school, his favorite part of his job was being able to meet and get to know everybody. He also appreciated that people loved to see him. When people learned of Baltazar’s departure, it brought out feelings of sadness within the students.
“It’s too bad that we lost such a valuable member of our community … He did the work a lot of people take for granted like picking up the trash. I would constantly see him come and go in my classrooms, and seeing him would put a bright smile on my face … It’s really unfortunate that he has to leave and I wish him luck in his future endeavors,” Fedor Kirilenko ‘20 said
