Every June and July, about 8 students from grades 7 to 11 embark on an adventure around Spain known as the El Camino Experience, hiking the famous route and visiting iconic landmarks in northern Spain. This year, trip A is from June 7th to June 19th, and trip B is from June 21st to July 3rd. During the trip, students are accompanied with multiple chaperones.
“Oh man, it was so fun.” said Ollie Rauch ’28, a student at Harvard Westlake who embarked on the trip last year. “We got to go to this big concert, and the music was good even though it was a new experience for me.”
After spending a few days in Madrid, students arrive at El Camino. Along El Camino, the pilgrim’s path, students will stay in hostels, getting the chance to meet other walkers and learn about the road’s history.
“It’s a rare experience because it’s something you don’t normally get to do as a high school student,” said Spanish Teacher Andrew Brabbee. “Overall, you get to see Madrid, explore Spain, have free time and eat delicious Spanish food. There are still some spots available, so sign up quickly!.”
To sign up, go to “Trips, Athletics & Activities” on the HW portal, where you will find the trip to Spain.
