BLACC, the Black Leadership Awareness and Culture Club, hosted its annual Thanksgiving potluck on Wednesday, Nov. 20 before Thanksgiving break. Student leaders and sponsors Jenn Gabrail, director of the Middle School Learning Center, and Jehan Giles, middle school librarian and KITS teacher, organized this year’s potluck.
Gabrail said, “The potluck was a BLACC tradition, a time for students to come together and for parents to come on campus while enjoying good food.”
This year, the food included fried chicken, ham, mac and cheese, collard greens, and more. Students gathered at tables with peers, friends, and new students.
One of the regular attendees of BLACC meetings, Mario Gavazzi ’28, said, “I really underestimated the joy of attending this year’s potluck. The food was well done and served throughout the day for students to come in whenever they had a free period. I hope that Harvard-Westlake will have a BLACC potluck at the upper school.”
