On Saturday, Dec. 7, Harvard-Westlake hosted and competed in a robotics competition that drew 36 middle school teams and 36 high school teams from across Southern California. Six Harvard-Westlake middle school teams participated in the event. Despite the tough competition, team 462V, composed of Remi O’Dell ’28, Michael Zhao ’28, and Eason Ji ’28, won the Create Award, which recognizes the team with the most creative solutions and designs to solve the challenge.
Additionally, team 462B, made up of Shriya Vishwas ’28, Victoria Wu ’28, Crystal Chong ’28, and Kayla Lee ’28, won the Innovate Award, given to a team for having an effective, documented design or strategy to complete a challenge. Teams 462B and 462X also qualified for the state competition, marking significant progress from previous events.
“Our seventh-grade team has really progressed well,” said Mr. Reed, head of the robotics program.
