Halloween is always a day students and faculty look forward to in the Harvard-Westlake community. This year’s festivities, On Oct. 31, included toilet paper mummy wrapping, Halloween cookies and lemonade by the cafeteria, and the much-anticipated faculty costume contest.
The faculty/staff costume contest, a long-standing Harvard-Westlake tradition, featured participation from several departments, each bringing their unique flair. The Math Department, Dean Team, Performing Arts, Science, Bookstore, World Languages, and Admin Hallway faculty all took part in this year’s competition.
“The costume contest has been around for several years and has become a great way to build community and let everyone show off their creativity,” Dean of Faculty and Staff Mr. Makhluf said. “It’s a fun tradition that brings some Halloween spirit to the school.”
This year, the Sports and PE department claimed the top spots for individual costumes. Middle School Athletic Director Darlene Bible won first place with her “Problem Solved” costume, while Head of Middle School PE Robert Ruiz took second place with his “Toy Story” Woody costume.
