The City of Los Angeles sends a delegation led by LA Mayor Karen Bass to Paris, France to observe Olympic preparations taking place. France will be hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics and their preparations are in full swing. Los Angeles will play host to the Olympic games 2028, and in France they hope to learn more about innovative housing, business, and green energy to prepare LA for the upcoming games. The delegation consists of many civic leaders and city council members. They will be meeting with Mayor Anne Hidalgo of Paris along with the French minister of Sports and many French officials, dignitaries and business leaders. Wolverines should keep an eye out for Olympic preparations taking place.
“The City of Los Angeles must be prepared to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This trip is vital to that preparation while generating business development and learning from innovative housing, green transportation and infrastructure projects,” said Bass in a recent press release.
Mayor Bass has been invited to play an official role in the closing ceremony for the 2024 Olympic games alongside Hidalgo. Both Bass and Hidalgo are the first women elected to lead their respective cities, making the meeting in Paris a historic one.
“Thank you to Mayor Hidalgo and Ambassador Bauer for having us in Paris and to Mayors Mathieu Hanotin of Saint-Denis and Karim Bouamrane of Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine for showing us the projects shaping your communities ahead of the 2024 Games,” Bass said.
The Los Angeles Delegation left March 6 and hopes to return March 10.
“If we wait until the Opening Ceremonies to be on the ground in Paris, we miss a crucial opportunity to learn from the City of Paris during their preparations to welcome the world this summer and this trip will allow us to fully immerse ourselves in the Olympic and Paralympic planning process in order to generate growth for Los Angeles,” Bass said.
