Luna Yang ’27 is a member of the HW varsity fencing team. She is well loved by her team for her constant positive encouragement and joy she brings. Yang’s fencing journey began in third grade and she has fenced for Beverly Hills Fencers’ Club and Valor Fencing Club in her own time. Yang’s love for fencing stems from the teamwork and unique challenges of the sport.
“My favorite thing about fencing is the teamwork and being able to encounter different challenges that my opponent has to offer as well as improving on my own skills,” Yang said.
She has participated in many tournaments during her fencing career. A memory that stood out was the SoCal Scholastic League Team Foil 2023.
“My team had secured first place by just one point and with only two people (including me) on the team while the other teams had three people” Yang said.
In the future Yang hopes to earn a rating and further advance her fencing abilities. She will be accompanying the rest of the HW fencing foil team led by Coach Erika Velarde to the SoCal Scholastic League Team Foil 2024 Feb. 25.
