Contemporary Dance Workshop I and II classes performed their showcase on Dec 8 in the Saperstein Theatre. The hour-long show was divided into two parts, one for each course.
Contemporary Dance Workshop I started their section of the showcase with small dances choreographed by the student dancers and finished with a larger dance called “Intergalactic Discotheque,” featuring dancers from whole.
Contemporary Dance Workshop II’s dances followed the theme of Around the World. They had seven different dances that were inspired by travel and foreign countries. Most of them were choreographed by the class; however, two were choreographed by guests who taught the students flamenco and bollywood style dances.
“I am so proud of the final result of our production. I think it was one of the strongest CDW showcases that we have ever done here. I think we that we have the most variety and versatility in the show too ….  We saw a really nice array of styles and kind of modes of performances being represented there,” dance teacher Joe Schenck said.
Students choreographed and polished their dances in class this semester as well as after school the week of performance.
“I just enjoy showing off all the work we have done for the last three months to everyone who wants to see. It seems like a good way to have our hard work pay off,” CDW I dancer Quinn Callaghan ‘21 said.
The audience said they enjoyed production as well.
“I think all of [the dancers] were really good, and the student choreography was really impressive,” Juliet Colitre ’21 said.
