Netflix Picks helps pick out holiday themed episodes. With the day off on Wednesday and Thanksgiving on Thursday, we can offer a selection of Thanksgiving themed episodes to watch during the break.

“Scrubs” Season 1, Episode 9: “My Day Off”

“Scrubs” is about J.D. (Zach Braff) who works at Sacred Heart Hospital with his best-friend Turk (Donald Faison) and his role model, Dr. Perry Cox (John C. McGinley) and Dr. Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke). The surprisingly functional hospital is run by Bob Kelso (Ken Jenkins). The hospital staff includes Nurse Carla (Judy Reyes) and Janitor (Neil Flynn) who add drama to the comedic show. Each episode takes place at Sacred Heart Hospital and comically details the doctors’ personal and work lives.
In “My Day Off,” J.D. has a day off on Thanksgiving after a busy internship. The episode opens with J.D. arriving at work to boast about his day off to his colleagues. He later leaves the hospital to celebrate Thanksgiving and take advantage of his free time. During his day off, J.D. ends up in the hospital with a case of appendicitis, faced by all of his colleagues. He was diagnosed after celebrating less than half of his day off and winded up spending the rest in the hospital. When talking to Nurse Carla, he becomes more anxious to leave and celebrate Thanksgiving. At the hospital, J.D. hallucinates about the medical cases and imagines his friends in fictional ways while trying to leave the hospital to go celebrate Thanksgiving.
Overall, the episode combines its usual comedic aspects with the somewhat traditional Thanksgiving theme.

“Friends” Season 5, Episode 8: “The One with All the Thanksgivings”

Friends is about six young adults living in New York and dealing with life, love and their careers. The group of friends – Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) , Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) , Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), and Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) – get into hilarious dilemmas when figuring out what to do with their lives.
In this episode, the group is all together for Thanksgiving and they have a debate on who has had the worst Thanksgiving. Viewers see a more recent Thanksgiving with Phoebe and Joey where things go terribly wrong with a turkey. The turkey gets stuck on Joey’s head and Phoebe, Monica and Rachel attempt to get the bird off before the turkey is eaten later that day.
The show then looks back to when Monica and Rachel were in high school, and viewers see their first Thanksgiving with awkward college students Ross and Chandler. When Ross attempts to show off to Rachel, Chandler ends up hurting Monica and a revenge starts to develop. The next Thanksgiving comes around with Monica, Rachel, Ross and Chandler where everyone has new looks and an agenda for the day. The day does not go as planned and ends with an unfortunate trip to the ER.
This episode will guarantee to make you laugh as you watch the groups various bad Thanksgivings.
